Login to customer's area and go to downloads. This requires a username and password which you receive by email after placing an order with us.

Important! Make sure you download the Windows Vista 64 bit client even if you are on Vista 32 bit. At this time this is the best solution for all Vista operating systems. You can download it also from OpenVPN download page (openvpn-2.1.1-install.exe).

Download free OpenVPN GUI and install it on your PC. You should press Allow the User Access Control window shows the An unidentified program wants to access your computer message.

Press then Next and install OpenVPN to C:\Program Files\OpenVPN. If the following window is shown select Install this driver software anyway.

Then you need to download the configuration files from here. You must login into your account. Then download turnkeyvpn.zip into the following folder: C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config. Unzip the config file. You should see a new folder named turnkeyvpn.

Set OpenVPN to run as Administrator

Go to the desktop OpenVPN icon and right-click on it.

You'll see a dialog with a checkbox for Run as administrator.

From now on, the application will always run as administrator if you use the shortcut to launch it. (You'll be prompted by UAC if you have it enabled).

In the toolbar, you should now see a symbol for OpenVPN (two red screens). Right click on the symbol with the mouse, choose Turnkeyvn-UK or Turnkeyvn-US and click Connect.

Enter your username and password and click OK.

A successfull VPN connection will be shown above the OpenVPN symbol. During a connection, the two little screens will be green.

Vista Problems

Different versions of Vista sometimes behave differently and, with the installation of updates, sometimes change. In some cases, OpenVPN works fine for a while and then stops working due to a change in Vista. In cases where right clicking does not solve the issue, you can set the UAC to allow software to run as administrator by default.

  • Open the "Control Panel".
  • Under "User Account and Family" settings click "Add or remove user account".
  • Click on your user account.
  • Click on "Go to the main User Account page".
  • Under "Make changes to your user account" click on "Change security settings".
  • Under "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer".
    Click on the Ok button.
  • You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.

Disconnect

To disconnect, just right click on the OpenVPN symbol and select Disconnect.
